Students in Need

Direct Purchases

We help students in need who are referred by school staff. We purchase alarm clocks for elementary children getting themselves to school, lice medication for students who cannot attend school until they are lice free, clothing for homeless students and much more. Last year we provided 99 students with Joe Binetti Scholarships, enabling them to attend Camp Auburn, the 5th grade district wide camp program.

We distribute over $50,000 worth of back to school supplies, clothing , grooming aids, household items and literacy materials to students and families in need. Our August Back to School Supply Drive, in partnership with local businesses and community members, helps over 1,000 students start the school year with the tools for success. Partnerships with organizations such as World Vision expand our ability to help Auburn kids and families.

Mayor Nancy Backus attended the event as well.

New coats were donated to students at Gildo Rey Elementary School by Valley Professional Fire Fighters.

Clothes 4 Kidz

Gently used clothing is collected in a community wide drive each February. The clothing is then washed and stored until needed. Combined with new clothing, the gently used items allow us to serve more students in need. To request clothing click here.

Food To Go

To help kids in critical need, CIS of Auburn partners with the Auburn Food Bank and local churches to provide a sack of food each Friday afternoon to 13 Auburn elementary schools and three middle schools. Twenty students at each of these schools receive food on a weekly basis during the school year.
