Engagement

Service Learning

Upper elementary and middle school students work with kindergartners and first graders at Dick Scobee, Gildo Rey and Terminal Park elementary schools, helping the younger students with reading skills. Additionally, high school students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with students needing extra support in reading skills. The Study Buddies program is currently offered at Washington and Alpac Elementary with plans for expansion in the fall of 2014. Both of these after school program are rewarding to both for the “littles” and the “bigs.”

We also coordinate Martin Luther King Day of Service projects and other special events that provide volunteer opportunities for both students and adults.

College & Career

We partner with the Auburn Chamber and the School District to bring an 8th grade college and career conference to all four middle schools each year in January. This conference connects students with local industries, businesses and colleges to explore different life paths.

Soccer

Mentorship, nutrition, physical activity and family engagement are all components of the Soccer for Success Program in partnership with the Washington Youth Soccer Association. The soccer program runs for 12 weeks in the fall and 12 weeks in the spring at Dick Scobee, Gildo Rey, Terminal Park and Washington elementary schools.
